The Process
When people call us to consider a project, they usually have a pretty good idea of what they want it to look like. They have pictures cut from magazines, color samples, etc. But there is still a long way to go.
We begin by asking a lot of questions to get a feel for what you have envisioned. Sometimes it is challenging to get the vision on paper. This can be because people have trouble describing what they see in their mind’s eye, they don’t know the terminology (they know ‘it’ when they see ‘it’ but don’t know what ‘it’ is called), or any number of reasons. Through the question/answer process we get a picture of what you are asking us to provide. |

While this process is going on measurements are being taken and a rough floor plan is drawn by hand to transfer to the CAD program
later, Cabinetware from Planit. The floor plan and cabinet project can
be drawn directly into the computer depending on your availability and
wishes. It can be rather time consuming but some clients enjoy
the process.

Through the design process we get answers to questions regarding color, wood choice, style, type of door, type of drawer front, pantry, lazy susan and other convenience hardware, hinges, hardware, pullout vs. shelf, number of drawer stacks, types of appliances, height, moldings, floor coverings, counter tops, etc. With these questions answered we can draw your dream kitchen, bath, closet or other built-in. |
After the room is drawn, you are free to change the entire thing or just tweak things here and there. Some clients say “Do it” without any changes and some have changed just about everything. We are committed to getting your remodel project just right so we will make as many changes as necessary during the design process. If the design isn’t quite what you want, change it! We want you to be thrilled.
The dimensioned drawing is quite useful for getting things just so and making changes. But the rendered drawing resembles a photo and lets you determine if everything is exactly as you desire. After everything is approved we begin cutting wood and building cabinets. We usually do our own staining and finishing for remodels. If the cabinets are for a builder, we will deliver and install them unfinished. |
